1. array   verb   

原句: The primary occupant was arrayed like a dancer.

意思: to arrange a group of things in a pleasing way or so that they are in order

字源: Middle English (in the senses ‘preparedness’ and ‘place in readiness’): from Old French arei (noun), areer (verb), based on Latin ad- ‘towards’ + a Germanic base meaning ‘prepare’. 

例句: Jars of all shapes and sizes were arrayed on the shelves.



2. ritual   noun   

原句: We have known from the '90s on that a big role of kings was to be a ritual dancer.

意思:
a. a series of actions that are always performed in the same way, especially as part of a religious ceremony
b. something that is done regularly and always in the same way

字源: late 16th cent. (as an adjective): from Latin ritualis, from ritus ‘(religious) usage’. 

例句:
