1. vegan   noun   

原句: Fat-free and vegan desserts.

意思: a person who does not eat any animal products such as meat, milk or eggs. Some  vegans  do not use animal products such as silk or leather.

字源: 1940s: from vegetarian + -an. 

例句: He's a strict vegan.



2. sinful   adjective   

原句: You can mix up your healful and sinful choices.

意思: morally wrong or evil

字源: Old English synfull (see sin, -ful). 

例句: It is sinful to lie.



3. catch on   phrase   

原句: This [healthy cruising] is really something that's catching on.

意思:
a. to become popular or fashionable
b. to understand sth 

例句:
a. He invented a new game, but it never really caught on.
b. He is very quick to catch on to things.



4. conscious   adjective   

原句: Said Randi Butcher, a 43-year-old health-conscious cruiser.

意思: being particularly interested in sth

字源: late 16th cent. (in the sense ‘being aware of wrongdoing’): from Latin conscius ‘knowing with others or in oneself’ (from conscire ‘be privy to’) + -ous.

5. craze   noun

意思: an enthusiastic interest in sth that is shared by many people but that usually does not last very long; a thing that people have a craze for

字源: late Middle English (in the sense ‘break, produce cracks’): perhaps of Scandinavian origin and related to Swedish krasa ‘crunch’. 

例句: Doctors warned of the latest drug craze to sweep America.
