1. courtship   noun [countable/uncountable]   

原句: After a lengthy courtship and time to become accustomed to the stresses of being a royal.

意思: the time when two people have a romantic relationship before they get married; the process of developing this relationship 

例句: They married after a short courtship.


2. so far   idiom   

原句: So far, only a few experimental biospheres have been built on Earth.

意思:
a. until now; up to this point
b. only to a limited degree 

例句:
a. Detectives are so far at a loss to explain the reason for his death.
b. I trust him only so far.



3. commoner   noun   

原句: The daughter of middle-class commners and descendant of working-class coal miners.

意思: a person who does not come from a royal or noble family

字源: Middle English (denoting a citizen): from medieval Latin communarius, from communa, communia ‘community’, based on Latin communis ‘common’. 

例句: It was not acceptable for royalty to marry commoners in those days.

意思: a person's  descendants  are their children, their children's children, and all the people who live after them who are related to them
